One thing we are often asked about is, “How do you get the right colour?” This is a good question as few whites are the same, and is in fact, a key skill of the job.
One has to be able to match the colour of the fixture one is repairing. You have to be able to match the colour by custom building it by eye which we do on the spot on the day.
We can achieve a very good result

Bath Chip Repair Full Step By Step Procedure:
- We inspect the damage to the area and work out the best way to repair it.
- We fill the crack, hole or chip with a special filler for that particular item
- We then sand the filler so that the damage is filled and the contour of the surface is restored.
- We use the bonding agent again over the filler, and the entire area to ensure that the new surface is stuck down fast once we spray the matching colour on and blend it out into the original surface.
Bath Repair Standard
The quality of the repair we go for is that you can no longer see the original damage, chip, crack, etc. We have to keep in mind that it is a repair after all and not a completely new bath or shower tray fixture.
The procedure described briefly above usually vanishes out any trace of the original damage and the repair itself, but we can’t promise that it will be absolutely undetectable by everybody as each person has a different ability to sense and perceive and a greater or lesser desire to find it and judge it.
The system is designed and specified for the repair of baths and shower trays in newly built properties or hotels where the criteria is such that someone buying the property or using the fixture would not notice anything or be able to find the repair if they were told there was one. It is not visible to them. Someone can walk into the room, look over the bath and see nothing wrong with it. This is the standard we can achieve with the technology as it now exists.
If however what is required is a standard whereby one knows where the repair is and expects to be unable to tell any difference at all between that area and another that has not been worked on or detect any difference of a repair whatsoever, we can’t promise that.
In some situations if you repeatedly run your hand over the area and move your head back and fourth back and fourth so as to catch it in different light reflections or use a torch and a magnifying glass you may be able to notice something. It is after all a repair and the objective is to improve the situation within reason in such a way that it is not noticed in normal use.
That we can achieve.
Has the Bathtub been worked on before
If the bath has been worked on before, we in many cases will have to strip back the enamel surface that was put on by another resurfacing company.
Usually the bonding method they used was not strong enough. This will show up as flaking or cracking of the enamel or the enamel is coming off. We will have to remove that surface before we put ours on. Once the surface is removed we will then use two adhesion promotors before we put our new enamel surface on
This is quite a messy job to do. We have done countless bath repairs like this. So we can also repair your bath!
How long does the bath repair surface last?
The surface life lasts for about 10 years, in many cases longer.
Life span is important. A bath is like anything, over time there is wear and tear of the surface due to use. So you can’t expect it it to last forever. You’re probably on this website because your bath has become worn out and isn’t as pleasing to you as it once was.
We want a long lasting deep shine that is easy to clean.
To achieve this it is necessary to pay particular attention to the effectiveness of the adhesion system. This is basically the sticking of our new surface to the original enamel
This involves using advanced materials that we have specially developed over the last 35 years and these go over the old surface before the new white enamel is applied.
The backbone of our continued success lies with our proven successful technology we created.
Do Bath Repair kits work?
Im not going to give you a bias answer even though we are a chip repair company. The honest answer is in most cases not. The main reason is due to the enamel colour supplied with bath repair kits. They are usually not the same colour as your bath or shower tray. All baths, shower trays sinks and toilets are actually all different shades of white, some darker shades and some lighter shades.
Your bath and sink in most cases are actually probably different shades of white even though they look the same. The repair kits supplied colours are only a few colours to try and if its not the one that matches your bath then you will be able to still see the damage afterwards, just this time its a different white than your bath white.
This is frustrating for clients and us as we have to undo the work over the repair kit and start again. So its best not to waste your money buying a repair kit for it not to work out as you had hoped and then have to hire a chip repair company like us to resolve it anyway.
As I said earlier “we make up the colour on the spot” by using different tinters, red blue and yellow, black and white. We make up the colour by eye against the bath. Little by little we correct the colour to match your bath or shower tray. Once we have the colour matched we use this enamel colour. We then do a spot in enamel repair with a spray gun.
Result: you have a colour matched vanishing repair ! You can no longer see the original damage, chip, crack etc. All repairs are done in 1-4 hours depending on the damage and repair.
With over 35 years of experience it is no wonder we do work for high street names such as Fortnum and Mason, Harrods and some of the Queen’s Crown properties.
