Hi there, I’m Ian Milton, owner of Diamondgleam. I've been restoring baths since 1985, so you could say that I know my way around a bathtub!
We restore baths, by completely re-enamelling them or repairing chip damage. We invisibly repair chip damage to other bathroom fixtures.
We can also change a coloured bath to white if you are replacing other parts of the suite and wish to retain the quality of an old bath.
The work is done in a day at your home, and is covered by a guarantee.
We do bath re-enamalling and chip repair across the UK so don't worry if there isn't an office near you, we can still get the job done.
You can call me at any time between 8am and 10pm weekdays and weekends on 07967 182 599 to have a chat about your bath. I am interested and keen to help.
Full re-enamelling brings old, scratched, chipped and dull baths back to life, so they look as good as new.

We cover the whole country, including Scotland. Our work is done in a day, and covered by a guarantee.
We are enthusiasts who are into baths. We like to do a good job of restoration for its own satisfaction, the reward of seeing something worn and tired restored to its former glory. It feels good to see the finished bath shining like new and experience the clients delight and appreciation.
A good bath
Our success lies with proven successful technology - our system procedure and the materials we use. Bath re-enamelling systems are all different. They use different materials and various methods. Costs vary, as well as curing times and life spans.
Our priority is life span. In fact with some an obsession. We want a long lasting deep shine that is easy to clean.
To achieve this it is necessary to pay particular attention to the effectiveness of the adhesion system. This is the part of the job that concerns making the new surface stick to the old one. See our technical page for more details. This involves using advanced materials that we have specially developed over the last 22 years and these go over the old surface before the new white enamel is applied. In other words we basically resurface the bath twice forming a durable laminate.
Chips and scratches invisibly repaired
- Colour-matched repairs
- At-home service
- Nationwide service
We repair chips and scratches on new and old fixtures, be they baths, showers or wash hand basins.
There is usually no need to remove the fixture or even unplumb it to have it restored. The work can also be done in another room if the bathroom is being renovated. The work is done in a day and is usable the following day. It’s easy. We don’t make a mess.
When repairs are done on new build sites we are sometimes persuaded into sorting out scratches on UPVC windows and doors, fixing scratched radiators and even repairing damage to kitchen worktops.

Baths are tough and can be redone many times. My descendants may restore the bath you have in a thousand years from now.
Sometimes we are not the first bath re-enamellers to have passed their hands over the bath in which case there may be some prior work that needs completely stripped back to the original before we can build up ours. This is not a pleasant part of the job, but it's part of making sure your bath looks as good as new when we're finished.
Getting it perfect!
Obviously we do this work for a living but that does not mean we do it only for the money. Income is the exchange for work well done, a natural consequence of doing things right. If you do each bath with the purpose of getting it perfect – as though it was one’s own, you always feel good about your business, you get recommended on to others and you earn a living. In my experience a job well done is always the most effective and reliable form of promotion.
Science - and art
Bath restoration is a science and an art. The science contains technology, how skillfully the technology is applied is the art. It requires concentration, patience, understanding, good perception, experience, care, a purpose to get it right, endurance and a willingness to keep grafting under difficult conditions. As a job it is not everyone’s cup of tea.
The straight data
You may find this site excessively informative, straight up and gritty but I just want to put you in contact with the field of bath restoration so you know what it is all about to help you decide what to do.
I set up the Diamond Gleam network of bath resurfacing outlets over the last twenty years. Each one is a small owner managed business and they are all trusted friends of mine. I have also re-trained a number of independents who also now use our system and can recommend them.
I quite often have to take the time to explain the home truths of bath restoration to customers who have been bamboozled. You see the normal and logical buying approach of choosing the company that has ticked all the right boxes for the least cost will not necessarily get you the best deal with bath resurfacing.
But some of the boxes should in fact be crossed. That statement will not improve my popularity! But hey, I have been doing baths for twenty years and I like to talk straight. The frequently asked questions on this site is worth browsing as it clarifies the truth about most aspects of this kind of work.
So this is us, warts and all.
